The Project Manager will be the Interior Signage Subject Matter Expert.  He/she will develop and implement the overall project plan for the design, manufacturing and installation of the complete sign program, ensuring the project is within budget and has acceptable gross margins. This incumbent will be responsible for quality control, staging, scheduling and complete oversight of the project.

  • Develop the program charter and manage the plan and all of the associated documentation
  • Develop processes and best practices for working with Icon’s production and outsource partners
  • Select sign installers, and/or work to develop in house install experts to execute and insure the quality installation of the signs
  • Obtain approvals for the client and submit complete billing packages to the Account Manager for approval once signs are installed
  • Position is very detail oriented, must be organized and efficient in Microsoft Project

Responsibilities

Project Development

Attend initial customer meetings with the sales force and Account Manager to define location requirements, define product requirements, review product designs, initiate preliminary surveys, and coordinate activities with design, end user as well as, develop and recommend pricing parameters, incorporate all issues into the initial proposal or final bid for customer approval. Project Plan and timeline is essential.

Detail planning and execution is essential in this position as some sites may have up to 2000+ interior plaques that must receive, staged, and verified (sometimes several times). Site walks during construction to ensure project plan has not changed.

 

Project Planning

Once the project is awarded, finalize required drawings and messaging, finalize product specifications, review requirements with Production Control, and maintain ERP database as necessary, develop field installation instructions and establish stakeholder contacts for billing and project reporting procedures, secure customer approval as needed, seek bids from and negotiate subcontractor installation pricing.  Follow budget and update the ERP database on a timely basis.

 

Skills should include:

  • Strong facilitation skills to manage customer meetings, track open issues and manage client due dates
  • Complex document tracking for RFI. Shop drawing submittals, change orders etc
  • Knowledge of ADA code requirements for interior signs
  • Knowledge of interior signage categories EG; Code, Room ID, Wayfinding
  • Knowledge of interior signage materials and applications
  • Contract management skills, the ability to understand contractual language, what is included or not included, do monthly billings and tactfully alert a client when something will generate a change order.  

 

Project Execution

 

Obtain and review preliminary surveys and develop specific sign locations, conduct technical surveys, finalize recommendations for signs, obtain customer approvals and completion photos for billing, and enter / initiate the Control Order.   Prepare the billing package for Account Manager Review, monitor accounts receivable and coordinate with Accounting/Credit to minimize delinquencies. Travel will be required to visit customers and field work for monitoring of sign installations and subcontractors. Site walk for interiors is a common practice and required to ensure proper staging, evacuation plans and messaging.

  

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities at this time.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.     

 

Experience

One to three years of similar project management experience in a multi-state environment is required.  Specific experience with a large sign company or with the construction trades that operate on a regional or national level is preferred.  This individual must be computer literate and fluent in word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications, (MS Office products primarily). Must have proficiency in Microsoft Project for development and management of timelines. Experience using computer-based project tracking systems to monitor project status would be extremely helpful.  This person must be able to interface successfully with a dedicated team of customers and employees from Project Management, Sales, Production, Finance/Accounting, and MIS.
